I feel like I want to make some statement regarding claims of a loss of “freedom” and “liberty” since Obama stepped into office, but I’ll do my best to let that go and just enjoy this photo. It was pretty cool being this close to the statue. Since visiting it as a child and climbing to the crown, I have been in awe of this piece of Franco-American history.

I remember very little about that trip, but that I remember vividly. That and how scary it was to look out of the crown. =)
